Mongoose Bikes: The History from the Beginning

Mongoose Bike originally known as BMX (Bicycle Motocross) Products, Inc was first manufactured by Skip Hess in 1974 in a garage of Simi Valley in southern California. And as the time passed it has become one of the most renowned bike Brands throughout the world.

 According to the dreamer of this bike, Skip Hess only the wheels were manufactured from magnesium cast at first for racing BMX. In 1976, after one and half year from the beginning, it was decided to manufacture the complete bike. The newly created bike was trademarked as Mongoose, a small sized fast and robust creature capable of killing cobras.

From 1980, this company started to grow rapidly because of its high quality bikes and promoted their first BMX racing team. Soon enough this team started to dominate in the major races and its name extended all over the world. As a result the company started to move from here and there to accommodate the rapid growth and at last settled in wholly owned 105,000 sq. ft. Moorpark facility in 1984. After making this largest stage of expansion, Mongoose Bike experts presented its first mountain bike in the same year. 

To take Mongoose Bike to a new height, this company sponsored a Tri-Star Picture film name Rad. It was directed by Bart Connor, Hal Needham, and Talia Shire. In 1987, mountain bike race became a craze in United State because of its famous mountain bike. Besides that, Mongoose played an important role to develop sports at that time which made them more renowned throughout the world.

Mongoose Bikes didn’t limit their success to that stage. It started to develop sophisticated technical parts of bike from 1990. And these hard efforts introduced the most successful Mongoose suspension mountain bike with amplifier in 1992.

In 2001, Mongoose decided to merge with Pacific Bike and afterward expanded to develop new and wide range of models including BMX, Downhill, All Mountain, Dirt Jump etc. At present, it has over 50 models of bikes. Some of the popular models of Mongoose bike are Fraction, Shield, Capture, Diagram, Salvo, Fireball etc.
